Journal Overview

Anva Continuum is a home for convergent research that cannot be understood through one disciplinary lens. It is not a catch-all venue: integration must change the question, method, evidence, or conclusion.

Intended readership: Researchers, method developers, and teams working across disciplinary boundaries.

Aims & Scope

The journal welcomes work that joins concepts, methods, or evidence across established disciplinary boundaries and explains the contribution made by each participating field.

Relevant interfaces include biology and computing, chemistry and materials, physics and engineering, mathematics and biological systems, AI and natural sciences, environment and technology, agriculture and data science, and energy and materials. Complex systems, instrumentation, and multidisciplinary methods are also suitable.

Manuscripts should present an integrated result rather than parallel studies placed side by side and should remain intelligible beyond the authors’ home discipline.

Subject Coverage

Use these areas to judge whether the manuscript’s central contribution belongs in this journal.

  • Convergent and team science
  • Complex systems
  • Multidisciplinary methods
  • Scientific instrumentation
  • Biology and computing
  • Chemistry and materials
  • Physics and engineering
  • Mathematics and biological systems
  • AI and natural sciences
  • Environment, agriculture, energy, and technology interfaces

Methods & Approaches

Methods should suit the research question. These common approaches are illustrative, not artificial requirements.

  • Integrated experimental and computational studies
  • Mixed scientific designs
  • Cross-scale modelling
  • Multimodal measurement
  • Instrument development
  • Comparative synthesis

Interdisciplinary interfaces

  • Natural sciences with computing
  • Mathematics across disciplines
  • Engineering-enabled discovery
  • Environment, agriculture, and energy systems

Scope Boundaries

Editors assess each manuscript as a whole. The following are generally outside scope unless a clear substantive contribution is established:

  • Work placed here only because it is difficult to classify
  • Single-discipline work with incidental use of another field’s tool
  • Broad commentary without interdisciplinary analysis

Article Types

Availability is confirmed during submission and may vary. No universal length or item limits are implied.

Original Research Article

A complete original study with methods, evidence, limitations, and discipline-appropriate conclusions.

Review Article

A critical, structured synthesis that advances understanding of a defined topic.

Short Communication / Brief Report

A focused original contribution whose significance can be established concisely.

Methods / Methodology Article

A validated method, workflow, instrument, computational approach, or analytical advance.

Perspective / Commentary

Evidence-informed analysis of a significant development or direction; unsupported opinion is unsuitable.
