Originality and integrity
Submissions must be original, accurately reported, and not under consideration elsewhere. Plagiarism, duplicate or redundant publication, fabrication, falsification, inappropriate image or data manipulation, misleading omission, and citation manipulation are not acceptable.
Authors must cite sources accurately, report funding and relevant interests, meet authorship responsibilities, and comply with applicable research-ethics, permission, and data requirements.
Similarity and integrity screening
Manuscripts may be screened for textual similarity and other research-integrity concerns at submission, during editorial assessment or peer review, before publication, or when a concern is raised. A similarity percentage alone does not establish plagiarism; editors assess the nature, extent, and context of overlap.
Concerns may include plagiarism, duplicate or redundant publication, inappropriate text recycling, or fabricated or manipulated material. Serious concerns may result in rejection or appropriate post-publication action.
Editorial and reviewer conduct
Editors act independently, manage conflicts, protect confidentiality, and base decisions on scholarly considerations. Reviewers must be constructive, preserve confidentiality, disclose conflicts, and not use privileged information. The authorized editor has final editorial responsibility.
Data, images, citations, and review integrity
Fabrication, falsification, selective manipulation, deceptive image adjustment, citation manipulation, and interference with peer review are prohibited. Authors must retain appropriate underlying records and cooperate with reasonable enquiries.
Review identities, reports, accounts, and suggested reviewers must not be fabricated or manipulated. Editors and reviewers must not exploit confidential work.
Ethical oversight across disciplines
Authors must meet requirements applicable to human participants, consent, animals, field and environmental research, protected species, permits, biological materials, and hazardous or regulated materials. Requirements depend on the research; medical oversight is not imposed where it is irrelevant.
Authorship, funding, and competing interests
Authors must be eligible, approve the work, and accept accountability. Gift, guest, honorary, or ghost authorship is unacceptable. Funding, material support, funder involvement, and relevant financial or non-financial interests must be transparent.
Concerns and investigations
Credible concerns may be assessed before or after publication. ANVA Journals may request records, consult relevant experts, and seek cooperation from authors or institutions where appropriate. Assessment considers evidence fairly and distinguishes honest error from misconduct.
Concerns and the published record
Credible concerns are assessed fairly and in light of available evidence, with an appropriate opportunity to respond. Material matters may require a Correction, Retraction, Expression of Concern, or another clearly identified notice connected to the publication. See Corrections & Retractions.
