Publishing policies

Peer Review

ANVA Journals uses single-blind peer review to support fair, expert, and constructive editorial decisions.

These policies apply across ANVA Journals unless an explicitly stated journal or article-specific requirement applies. Last updated: 1 September 2026.

Single-blind model

Reviewers normally know the identities of the authors. Authors normally do not know the identities of the reviewers.

Reviewer identities and confidential review material remain protected except where disclosure is explicitly authorized under an applicable process.

Initial editorial assessment

Editors assess scope, completeness, reporting, originality, ethical and integrity matters, and suitability for review. A manuscript may be declined without external review where appropriate.

Reviewer selection and responsibilities

Editors select reviewers for relevant subject or methodological expertise, independence, and complementary perspectives. Authors may suggest or oppose reviewers where the process permits, with reasons, but editors are not bound by those requests.

Reviewers must disclose conflicts, preserve confidentiality, avoid personal criticism, identify limitations fairly, and provide evidence-based, constructive comments.

Confidentiality, conduct, and AI

Manuscripts, files, correspondence, and reports are confidential. Reviewers must not share or use them, contact authors directly, or upload confidential material to external generative-AI services where confidentiality may be compromised. Reviewers remain responsible for their reports.

Revisions and decisions

Authors may be asked to revise and respond to comments. Additional review may be required. Reviews inform but do not replace editorial judgment; final responsibility belongs to the authorized editor.

Appeals, complaints, and integrity concerns are considered under the applicable process. Editorial decisions remain independent of commercial considerations.

Editorial submissions and special collections

A manuscript involving an editor is handled without that person’s participation in assessment or decision. Where guest editors or special collections are used, the same review, conflict, confidentiality, and integrity standards apply, with independent oversight where needed.

Timing and post-publication review

Duration varies with subject, reviewer availability, revisions, and integrity questions; no fixed review or acceptance time is promised. Published work may be reassessed when credible concerns emerge.

Appeals and complaints

A focused appeal should identify a material factual or procedural issue. Reviewers and readers may report conduct or integrity concerns. Reassessment does not guarantee a changed decision. See Complaints & Appeals.

Independence from payment

No submission fee applies. An APC is considered only after acceptance. Payment, a waiver request, or ability or inability to pay never influences review or editorial decisions. See Article Processing Charges.
