Article Types

A general directory of formats for multidisciplinary scholarship.

Individual journals may support different formats and later define discipline-specific requirements. No universal word, figure, or item limits are implied.

Original Research

Reports a defined research question, methods, results, limitations, and evidence-based interpretation.

Review Article

Synthesizes and interprets established and emerging knowledge for a defined scholarly topic.

Systematic Review

Uses explicit, reproducible methods to identify, assess, and synthesize evidence addressing a focused question.

Meta-analysis

Uses statistical methods to combine comparable results, with transparent selection, assumptions, and limitations.

Brief Report / Short Communication

Presents a focused research finding, dataset, observation, or early contribution in a concise form.

Methodology

Introduces, evaluates, or advances a research, analytical, computational, laboratory, or field method.

Protocol

Describes the rationale and planned methods for a study or evidence synthesis before results are available.

Editorial

Offers an editorial perspective on a journal, field, article, or timely scholarly issue.

Commentary

Provides a reasoned analysis of a focused issue, development, or published contribution.

Perspective

Develops an evidence-informed viewpoint or forward-looking interpretation for the field.

Correspondence / Letter

Supports concise scholarly discussion, critique, clarification, or response.
