Journal Overview

The journal publishes agricultural science from biological foundations and field production to data-enabled management and circular use of resources.

Intended readership: Crop, soil, plant, agricultural systems, digital agriculture, and sustainability researchers.

Aims & Scope

It advances crop science, agronomy, soil science, plant breeding and genetics, biotechnology, horticulture, pathology, entomology, weed science, and agricultural microbiology.

Precision and digital agriculture, remote sensing, agricultural AI, irrigation, water management, nutrition, climate-smart agriculture, agroecology, post-harvest science, agricultural systems, resource efficiency, and agricultural by-product use are welcome.

Food-security research should connect to agricultural production or systems; clinical nutrition and general food-product studies are outside the core scope.

Subject Coverage

Use these areas to judge whether the manuscript’s central contribution belongs in this journal.

  • Crop science and agronomy
  • Soil science and crop nutrition
  • Breeding, genetics, and biotechnology
  • Horticulture
  • Plant pathology, entomology, and weed science
  • Agricultural microbiology
  • Precision and digital agriculture
  • Remote sensing and agricultural AI
  • Irrigation and water management
  • Climate-smart agriculture
  • Agroecology and systems
  • Post-harvest and circular resource use

Methods & Approaches

Methods should suit the research question. These common approaches are illustrative, not artificial requirements.

  • Field trials
  • Greenhouse studies
  • Laboratory and molecular methods
  • Breeding and quantitative genetics
  • Remote sensing
  • Agricultural modelling and AI
  • Farm-system assessment

Interdisciplinary interfaces

  • Agriculture with biology
  • Agriculture with data science
  • Soil, water, and environment
  • Circular and sustainable production

Scope Boundaries

Editors assess each manuscript as a whole. The following are generally outside scope unless a clear substantive contribution is established:

  • Clinical nutrition without agricultural contribution
  • Food-product work disconnected from agriculture or post-harvest science
  • Practice descriptions without suitable evidence or wider insight

Article Types

Availability is confirmed during submission and may vary. No universal length or item limits are implied.

Original Research Article

A complete original study with methods, evidence, limitations, and discipline-appropriate conclusions.

Review Article

A critical, structured synthesis that advances understanding of a defined topic.

Short Communication / Brief Report

A focused original contribution whose significance can be established concisely.

Methods / Methodology Article

A validated method, workflow, instrument, computational approach, or analytical advance.

Perspective / Commentary

Evidence-informed analysis of a significant development or direction; unsupported opinion is unsuitable.
