Journal Overview

The journal publishes work in which chemical questions, transformations, measurements, structures, or mechanisms form the central scholarly contribution.

Intended readership: Chemists and researchers using chemical principles in biological, materials, environmental, and physical contexts.

Aims & Scope

The journal advances understanding of composition, structure, bonding, reactivity, measurement, and chemical function across organic, inorganic, physical, analytical, theoretical, and computational chemistry.

It welcomes synthesis, mechanisms, catalysis, spectroscopy, electrochemistry, photochemistry, supramolecular and surface chemistry, polymers, nanochemistry, and green chemistry. Materials chemistry, chemical biology, and medicinal chemistry fit where chemical insight is central.

Claims should be supported by appropriate characterization, controls, analytical evidence, and reproducible experimental or computational detail.

Subject Coverage

Use these areas to judge whether the manuscript’s central contribution belongs in this journal.

  • Organic and inorganic chemistry
  • Physical and analytical chemistry
  • Theoretical and computational chemistry
  • Synthesis and reaction mechanisms
  • Catalysis and electrochemistry
  • Spectroscopy and photochemistry
  • Supramolecular and interface chemistry
  • Polymers and nanochemistry
  • Chemical biology and medicinal chemistry
  • Environmental and green chemistry
  • Materials chemistry

Methods & Approaches

Methods should suit the research question. These common approaches are illustrative, not artificial requirements.

  • Chemical synthesis
  • Quantitative analysis
  • Spectroscopy and structural characterization
  • Electrochemical and photochemical methods
  • Mechanistic experiments
  • Quantum and molecular computation

Interdisciplinary interfaces

  • Chemistry with biology
  • Chemistry with materials
  • Environmental chemistry
  • Chemical physics and engineering

Scope Boundaries

Editors assess each manuscript as a whole. The following are generally outside scope unless a clear substantive contribution is established:

  • Materials performance without meaningful chemical insight
  • Routine measurement without a new chemical question or method
  • Clinical work in which chemistry is not the principal contribution

Article Types

Availability is confirmed during submission and may vary. No universal length or item limits are implied.

Original Research Article

A complete original study with methods, evidence, limitations, and discipline-appropriate conclusions.

Review Article

A critical, structured synthesis that advances understanding of a defined topic.

Short Communication / Brief Report

A focused original contribution whose significance can be established concisely.

Methods / Methodology Article

A validated method, workflow, instrument, computational approach, or analytical advance.

Perspective / Commentary

Evidence-informed analysis of a significant development or direction; unsupported opinion is unsuitable.
